Phil Mickelson completed day 1 of the Scottish Open 7 shots back from the leaders, with a 71 even par. In his round, Phil had 3 bogeys and 3 Birdies. Phil opted for 5 wedges today on a course which favored the big hitters, but you really have to stick it on the fairway for a clear shot to the green.
Gareth Paddison (NZ) finished with a 1 under par 70, having 2 bogeys and 3 birdies and a great first day for the young left-hand golfer.
The best scoring left-hand golfer was Richard Green (AUS), who sits T7 after day 1 with a 4 under par, only 3 shots behind leader Thongchai Jaidee (THAI). Green had an impressive 7 birdies, 1 bogey, and a double bogey.
