World number 2, Phil Mickelson’s hopes of winning the 2008 US Open vanished on the 13th hole on a tough at Torry Pines Golf Course. Phil hit a quadruple-bogey at 13 and ended up finishing 9 over for the tournament.

Phil actually lives nearby and grew up playing the South Course at Torrey Pines, where he has won 3 Buick Invitationals on the PGA Tour. At 37 years old, he is still yet to win a US Open, but he has many years left to lift the trophy, c’mon 2009 Phil!
